The defining colors of the Rastafarian religion are red, gold, and green. These colors were taken from the Garvey movement.  The yellow represents the wealth of the homeland. Green represents the beauty and vegetation of Ethiopia, the promised land.

The color red stands for the Church of Triumphant, which is the church of the Rastas.  Red also symbolizes the blood that martyrs have shed throughout the history of the Rastas and the black struggle for liberation.

Some flags include the black in the Jamaican flag, to represent the color of Africansto whom 98% of the Jamaicans are descended.which represents the dominant race.
