white atheist rastafarian | |
hey, my name is ike and i've been looking into rastafarianism.
as many of us know, the rastafari movement is very appealing to many "outsiders", especially white youth, and i wanted to clarify a few things. i am interested in rastafarianism, and i'd love to learn more about it. i'm beginning to migrate from americanized messenjahs such as marley to more rasta-centric artists like burro banton.
my question is unique to all others. while i'm very interested in this movement, and considering memebership, i have a few "setbacks." i am white, which i know is not a huge problem in being rastafarian. however, i'm also an atheist, that is, i don't believe in god/jah. so while many aspects of rastafari appeal to me, such as one love and fighting to create the same opportunities for non-whites, i don't believe in jah.
would i be accepted by jamaica and rastafari since i am becoming more knowledgeable in the culture and history, however don't believe in the same religious entity?
